Losing Weight

Today was a good day for the scale...I'm down 12 pounds from 2 weeks ago!! I am now in the second phase of this low-carb diet that includes lots of meat, but no flour or sugar still. And by meat I mean fish, eggs, ham, turkey, chicken, beef, etc. So overall I think it will be fine. The 3rd phase is where you re-introduce whole grains in small amounts and keep tabs on your weight loss so that you know when you're eating too many carbs.

To help make this a true way of life I have really just committed myself whole-heartedly. I want to get fit and thin and stay that way. For example, last night at my mom's birthday party I allowed myself to have 3 bites of cheesecake, and then I gave the rest to someone else. It was nice to have a little taste without all the sugar and guilt. And it didn't cause me to say "what the heck, I've already blown it today, so let's eat everything in sight" as has happened in the past.

I'm also learning to deal with stress in more appropriate ways (rather than just eating!). I work out each day and I've started doing circuit training two-three times a week. I take all my stress to the workout sessions and I feel better every time. So rather than sitting around eating cause I'm stressed, I eat to fuel my body and work out to handle the stress.

I tried to give blood today (as suggested in the diet) and it didn't work. I'm actually really, really annoyed by this. I got there early for my appointment (gasp now!) and did all the paperwork, test questions, and iron check, only to have the phlebotomist MISS the vein! I warned her that my veins were tricky, and she still missed. She got another guy to come help and he couldn't find the vein, either, though he did inflict lots of pain by moving the needle around. I had to leave because John needed to get to work and he was at home with the kids, so when they failed to get my vein I had them take the needle out and I left. I did get a free 8 piece chicken nugget meal out of the ordeal, but I'm not gonna eat it so I still feel jipped.

I have started looking into my trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to help keep me on this path and I can tell you - I am EXCITED!! I can't wait to reach my goal weight. 26 pounds down, 49 left to go.
