I did something revolutionary last night - I took time FOR MYSELF. It was awesome! Evelynne had just gone to bed and I was cleaning up the dinner remnants when I looked at the clock...almost 9pm...ok, I'm thinking, I still have to pick up the living room, make some baby food, do laundry, clean up the kitchen...and then it hit me - I'm TIRED. Some of those things really aren't that important. So I decided I would give myself 15 minutes - and I even set a timer - to get the most important things done before I had to stop and relax. So that's what I did. I set the timer and got to work. And John even came in an helped. I was amazed at what we could get done in 15 minutes. It was great. And when the timer went off we walked out of the kitchen, hi-fived each other, and sat down to relax. John played a football game on the XBox and I started the 1st Harry Potter book. I haven't actually read any of the Harry Potter's. I'm a little behind, can you tell? I was almost giddy to be sitting on the coach reading at a normal hour of the evening. The last time I did that it was after 11 and I was up until at least 1am. That was dumb...I was trashed the next day!
Anyway, it was fun to relax for a minute. I know when more children come I'll have to really make personal time a priority or I will go insane. I'm gonna start now so I'm in the habit!
And ps - I think I have freakishly high cleanliness standards or something...I hate clutter and I hate mess. Especially in my kitchen. If the kitchen in dirty, the whole house feels dirty. I'm weird, I know. But I can't go to bed with a dirty kitchen. The rest is managable as long as the kitchen is clean. The end.

You should read the book "Sink Reflections" it is totally up your alley. Or just check out the author's website: flylady.net
that 15 minute quick clean up is one of her tools. She has some amazing ideas.
I scoped out her website. I really liked it! She had some great ideas!
Hey Kristin! Thanks for the link to be one of your private viewers! I feel so special!
I'm sad to say my cleanliness standards have slipped dramatically since having children. When we were newlyweds our home was almost constantly spotless, but now.... Let's just say I take time for myself at night before I take time to clean. Maybe not the best thing always, but it keeps me sane. And I bet you'd love flylady.
